Cabot Performance Materials (Xuzhou) Co., Ltd. was acquired by Cabot Corporation in October 2018. The company was originally NSCC Carbon (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Nippon Steel & Sumikin Chemical Co., Ltd.

The Xuzhou plant is located in the Economic Development Zone of Pizhou, Jiangsu Province, and produces high-performance specialty carbon black products. This product is widely used in industries such as textiles, coatings, adhesives, batteries, plastics, high-performance materials, among others.

Currently, the plant is undergoing comprehensive technology upgrades, including the transformation of production lines, improvement of production process safety control levels and safety, health, and environmental protection related facilities. The facility will take advantage of the industrial park carbon-based new material industry cluster effect to become a role model for a regional close-loop economy.

The technology upgrades will optimize the carbon black production structure to meet the market's demand for specialty carbon black. The Xuzhou plant upholds the company's values, adheres to the highest ethical standards, and is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and promoting Responsible Care® initiatives.

On April 2, 2021, we held the unveiling ceremony for our Responsible Care RC14001 certification. Our Xuzhou plant is the first domestic chemical company to complete the RC14001 system certification while still in the project phase and is currently in the project construction phase.

On October 21, 2020, the Xuzhou plant achieved its phased goal of no safety incidents for two years. The achievement of this milestone is inseparable from the long-term efforts of all of our employees and contractors. Along with Cabot’s strong safety culture, the Xuzhou plant has benefitted from advanced production technology and a strong commitment to Responsible Care.

Official Commencement of Upgrade Project

On January 1, 2020, we officially commenced the upgrade project of our Xuzhou plant with a planned completion in 2022. The upgrade of the plant involves the maintenance and upgrade of its production facilities and environmental protection equipment.
