Natural Gas Treatment

Activated carbon plays a key role in natural gas treatment and the removal of hydrocarbons.

Natural gas, a fossil fuel, is a hydrocarbon mixture consisting primarily of methane. Before natural gas can be used commercially, the gas must be treated to remove larger hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide and traces of elemental metals like mercury.

Activated carbon enables mercury removal by offering:

  • High loading capacity
  • High removal efficiency for even the smallest traces
  • Low pressure drop
