Community Outreach & Social Responsibility
Supporting local Girl Guides
In 2015, we donated £1,000 to the local Girl Guide group to help them renovate their facilities that are more than fifty years old. Our donation was used to rebuild the kitchen and toilet facilities.
Donating to a local school
We were proud to support the local Sully Primary School with a donation on behalf of the Cabot Corporation Foundation to purchase new computers and math software for the students.
Supporting Action Medical Research for children
In teams of four, our employees participated in the Race the Sun Brecon Beacons to benefit children’s medical research.
Our employees cycled 45 miles, climbed the Pen y Fan mountain, and canoed nearly 2 miles along the Pontsticill Reservoir. All proceeds were donated to Action Medical Research, a charity that funds research for the many thousands of families in the United Kingdom dealing with children born prematurely or suffering from a devastating disease or disability.
Walking for charity
In 2015, we participated in a 10 kilometer charity walk to benefit the Tŷ Hafan Hospice for children and young people. We joined more than 600 females for a nighttime walk in pajamas, raising more than £1,100.
Support for Local Education
SCIENCE WEEK WITH SULLY SCHOOL STUDENTS
We shared our passion for science and innovation with local Sully Primary School children by participating in the countrywide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Week. For three days, we welcomed children to visit to our site, introducing them to fumed silica and its applications. We also visited the children at their school and organized a fun team activity.
